Fuel Gauges

The electromagnetic fuel indicating system is made of two separate units; the indicating unit i.e. Fuel Tank Unit / Float Guages mounted on the instrument panel and the sensing unit i.e. Tank unit fitted on to the fuel tank.

The fuel gauge incorporates a cross coil movement with a freely suspended bipolar magnet, moving under the magnetic influence of these two coils, carrying current depending on the float position. The tank unit basically is a variable resistance, depending on the float arm position, which rises or falls with the fuel level. The Fuel gauge and tank unit are connected by a single wire and employ chassis for the return circuit.
